June 1, 2014 -- Geoffrey Orth, longtime Alaska Trails board president, resigned in May. Geoff served as president for 8 years which saw extensive organizational growth within Alaska Trails. He helped hire our first Executive Director, worked on several statewide trail conferences, managed the development of numerous public service announcements (located on our website), developed a procedure to act as financial sponsor for trail groups that don't have non-profit status, assisted with the development of 14 advanced trail training modules and curriculums, was the lead in developing miles of singletrack trail on Ester Dome, acted as project manager on numerous trail projects, and acted as a trails advocate both at home and across the state. We thank him for his extended efforts and hope he has more time to get out and enjoy the trails he has worked on. Our best to Geoff!

March 6, 2014 -- We've updated our Mastodon Trail Request For Quote (RFQ), in which we are seeking quotes from trail contractors for a new trail in the Chena River State Recreation Area.

June 15, 2013 -- Alaska Trails is seeking bids from contractors to construct a 2.5 mile contour trail in the Chena River State Recreation Area.  Here is the "Invitation For Quote" (IFQ), a PDF document.

May 31, 2013 -- The June edition of the Alaska Trails Newsletter just came out and is available (along with previous editions and updates) in our newsletter archive.

May 25, 2013 -- June 1st is National Trails Day.  Plan on doing something related to trails on Saturday, June 1st, be it a hike, bike, walk, paddle trip or even trail building or maintenance. Visit the American Hiking Society for some history and details about the day.
