About the event
Work on the Eklutna Lakeside Trail will include brushing of alders and other growth along the trail (non-motorized trail). Volunteers will bike in 5-6 miles before beginning work and will need to have a bike helmet, bike lock and a pack to carry all their gear for the day in addition to a set of loppers and a folding hand saw - both of which Alaska Trails will provide.
All cut debris must be dragged off trail out of sight with the “white eyes” (cut ends) facing away from the trail. All cuts must be made either at the base or joint of a branch. Clear the corridor approximately 1 pulaski length from the edge of the trail (use best judgment). Care will need to be taken to identify areas where the debris can be taken as some areas will not allow due to steepness or proximity to the lake.
