Horsetail Falls Connector Trail

Volunteers will be building new trail. This will involve brushing and grubbing out the corridor and constructing new tread. There will also be parts where some step and run boardwalk will be installed as well. Volunteers will meet at the Whittier Public Safety Building. BBQ to follow!

About the event
Volunteers will be building new trail. This will involve brushing and grubbing out the corridor and constructing new tread. There will be a lot of light and moderate rockwork to be done for construction of partial fill/bench trail and switchback structures. There will also be parts where some step and run boardwalk will be installed as well. Horsetail Falls connector trail will connect the future city park site to the existing Horsetail Falls trail. Volunteers will meet at the Whittier Public Safety Building at 9 am. Be sure to catch the 8:30-8:45 am tunnel. Bring a change of clothes and stick around for a post work BBQ with raffle prizes from local businesses.
No experience needed. All tools and protective equipment will be provided. Children allowed, parent/guardian will need to manage them.
What to bring: Rain gear, sturdy work/hiking boots, snacks, water, sunscreen, long work pants, and work gloves and safety glasses if you have them (if you don't have gloves/safety glasses they will be provided for the day).
What NOT to bring: Alcohol, drugs, pets and firearms.
Notes: Volunteers under 18 must have a Volunteer Agreement signed by an adult and a parent present. Volunteers will hike approximately 1 mile with 300-600 feet of elevation gain. This is a moderate hike where you will be carrying tools as well. Volunteers must be physically fit enough to complete this hike and work a full day.
